Review of 2024
What was another very successful year for the Club with the Minor A team and U15 feile teams taking the highlights.
The minor B panel also came out on top in there final against Clooney Quin.
Both our U16 panels reached the finals in the A and B competitions losing both on the same night. The A panel taking Doonbeg to extra time and losing out on a score of 2-13 to 3-11 in Frure. Two hours earlier the B panel lost to Newmarket in Newmarket 1-11 to 4-5.
This year three teams entered the u14 competitions in the A , B and D grades with all three teams taking the top honours.
In the B final Rovers overcame Clarecastle in Clarecastles astro pitch 4-11 to 5-5.
Rovers played Doora Barefield in the A and D finals with a comfortable with for the A side 2-14 to 0-7. The D team won 2-8 to 3-2.
The u15s also had a very successful year winning the All Ireland Feile final back in June. They beat Doonbeg in the feile final in Clare and then went on to represented the county playing. Fergus Rovers beat St. Ergant Moonglass in the final 1-4 to 0-0.
Some of this group also took part in the U15 Beacon Hospital Kilmacud Crokes All Ireland 7s in Dublin, playing seven games on the day and beating Knockbride of Cavan in the final 2-9 to 4-7.
The senior team retained there senior status when they beat West Clare Gaels in a relegation game in Cooraclare under lights.
The Junior panel had also a good year winning the Div. 3 League final against Crusheen 3-16 to 2-3 and losing the Junior A championship shield final to Wolfe tones 3-11 to 5-9.
The club also fielded team at u10, U8 and u6 level in 2024. Well done to all the players and mentors for all there work during the year.

Fergus Rovers U8’s played their last blitz for the year against Monaleen GAA this Saturday morning. The girls played 4 games. There was some fantastic football skills played amongst all the teams participating. All the Fergus Rovers players gave a great account of themselves. These games are making a huge improvement in all our players confidence and football skills, with all match’s being very competitive. We wish to thank Monaleen GAA for having the pitches in great condition and giving the girls the opportunity to play 4 games. Thanks for all the refreshments afterwards. Thanks to the U8’s coaches who helped out over the year. And lastly, a special thanks to Holly’s mom Marianna Sexton for sponsoring the lovely medals presented to the girls after the blitz. 5-8-24 7s All Ireland
Fergus rovers competed in the 7s Beacon Hospital kilmacud Crokes All Ireland 7s on Sat. 5-8-24. Rovers reached the final losing out to Knockbride of Cavan on a score of 4-7 to 2-9. Rovers won there four round robin games against St. Manchans Offaly 11-1 to 2-2, Rd 2 Fergus Rovers 13-1 to Kildress Tyrone 3-3, Rd 3 Fergus Rovers 9-7 Claregalway of Galway 4-1, rd 4 Fergus Rovers 4-4 St Patricks Louth 3-2. In the quarter final against Ballincollig Cork 4-4 to 3-2, and the semi final against Ballinderry Shamrocks Derry 8-5 to 6-3. In the final. The panel was Megan Browne, Kara Lynch, Leah Griffin, Emma Kelly, Naoise Talty, Sienna Houston, Chloe donnelly, Anna Donnelly, Zoe Warren, Aoibhinn Keane, Caoime McMahon and Ciara O Rourke.

Double disappointment for u16 teams.
There was double disappointment for both the A and B panels this eve in finals. In Newmarket the B side lead at half time 1-6 to 2pts. A strong second half from the home side finished on top on a final score of 1-11 to 4-5.
The panel was Maeve Coughlan, Holly Egan, Zoey Warren, Ciara keoghan , Clara o Rourke, Aoibhin Keane, Cristina McMahon, Chloe Donnelly, Sarah Haugh, Anna Donnelly, Leah Griffin, Clodagh Kelly, Sarah Mcsweeney, Kayla o Connor, Caera McMahon, Amy Flanagan, Hannah Sheehan, Eimear Haugh, Clara Haugh, lily McNamara and Lucy Hehir.
A quick rush up the road for management and supporters to attend the second final in Frure between Rovers and Doonbeg. This was another tight affair with both sides finishing level at normal time on a score of Rovers 2-11 Doonbeg 3.8. Extra time was necessary in difficult under foot conditions Doonbeg won on a final score of 3-11 to 2-13. The team was as follows Kate Griffin, Jenny Williams, Leah Leahy, Emma Kelly, Sienna Houston, Rossin garry, Emma Haugh, Naoise Talty, Ali Talty, Megan Browne, Sarah Hickey, Neasa Meaney capt,Megan Lynch, Meave Clancy, Hazel Conway, Saoire Fawley, Saoire Conway, Keeling McMahon, Olivia Guinnane, Nicole Carmody and Ruby Frawley.
The management for both teams were Geraldine Kelly, Ger Keane, Maurice Browne, Joan Leahy, Myra Talty and Lauren Griffin
APRIL
Congrats to Louise Griffin, Aoife Griffin and Aisling Costello who were part of the Clare panel to win the division 3 league title.
U16 county panel members (13-2-24)
Fergus Rovers have a large number of players on the U16A and U16B panels.
On the B panel are Naoise Talty and Hazel Conway, while on the A panel Leahy Leahy, Maeve Clancy, Roisin Garry, Neasa Meaney and Ali Talty will represent the club.
Minor county panel (13-2-24)
A huge congratulations to Shauna Melican name Minor county captain for 2024. Also on the panel is Eimear Burke, Sophie Culleton, Abbie Cahill, Aoife Griffin, Hazel Keating, Keeva Culligan,and Ria Meaney.
Intermediate county panel (13-2-24)
Louise Griffin will again this year be part of the Intermediate county panel, this year she will be joined by Aoife Griffin and Aisling Costello.
